Building Your Creative Career Shouldn’t Feel Like a Game of Chance

What if it felt more like a choose-your-own-adventure story?

As a kid, I couldn't get enough of these interactive books. I loved exploring the possibilities of different scenarios to see how each would play out. It’s amazing how different choices affect the outcome.

Today, I realize it’s how I’ve built my business & how I mentor my students.

In art school, I was able to explore & play with so many different types of media. As an Illustration major I…

  • explored the craft of photography (which sparked a lifelong passion)

  • took to computer-based graphic design much faster than I expected (not to date myself but, Photoshop 5 became my best friend!)

  • swooned over the fashion department concept boards

Surface Design has shown me the boundless opportunities to create, share, and sell my art.

After graduation, I felt called to pull these many passions together. It’s how I landed in the Surface Design world, a space that seams together my love of illustration, stationery, textiles, patterns, photography, color play, fashion, decor, & more.

In a world so fixated on “NICHING DOWN” I challenge you to PLAY, EXPLORE, and EMBRACE the possibilities to strategically merge your artistic passions together.

Ditch the blueprints & knock down the walls. Let’s map out your unique, creative journey.

IT’S TIME TO CREATE A CAREER THAT TELLS YOUR STORY

As a Surface Designer, I sought out a variety of in-house and freelance experiences in boutique and corporate environments. I’ve navigated a wide range of artistic and professional spaces including the publishing, fashion, accessories, and textile industries. Along the way, I developed innovative techniques to bring designs to life from development through to production.

Where I’ve Studied…

Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design & Surface Design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising

Who I’ve Worked for…

Brighton, Trina Turk, Guess, New York & Co, and Publications International
(to name just a few)

Find My Designs…

Pottery Barn Teens & Kids,
Minted, VIDA, Society 6, Red Bubble, Zazzle, and Spoonflower

My Experience Is My Superpower

I don’t create, mentor, or teach from one isolated niche.

This superpower lets me connect creatives from across industries, guide artists to discover their unique niche, and critique from a market-focused perspective (AKA I know what sells so you can finally see YOUR ART out in the world).

CONNECT THE DOTS

As I connected with more and more designers, I realized my experiences were not the norm. I had perspectives that many other creatives did not. I knew that my insight could have a profound impact on the way designers create, build, and scale their businesses.

Because your creative business should be as inspired as your ideas.

Today, I help creatives bridge the gap between where they are & where they aspire to be.

Let Me Save You Years of “Doing It the Hard Way”

(20+ years to be specific)

Once I shifted from freelance work to community building, something amazing happened…

I found so many like-minded creatives from all walks of life ready to share, collaborate, and learn together

I’ve been able to connect with and support amazing creatives like this…

“I'm blown away at all the tangible ideas generated by Rebecca. She has a way of thinking outside of the box to see ways to build our audience by leveraging knowledge.”

- Jayne Alfieri, Artist + Co-Founder AdoptionlyYours.com

I’m on a mission to cultivate transparency and empowerment in the creative space.

I set out to develop connections, foster community, & curate resources so you can find your “people”, your place, & your passion as a creative.
